Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between QRR and SCOR references?
QRR (QR Reference) is the Swiss 27-digit reference with a mod-10 check digit and replaces the old ESR number. It only works with a QR-IBAN (CH..30000... to CH..31999...). SCOR (Creditor Reference per ISO 11649) is the international variant with up to 25 characters, starts with RF and works with a regular IBAN. Choose QRR if your bank has issued you a QR-IBAN and you want automated payment matching — otherwise pick SCOR or no reference at all.
What is a QR-IBAN and do I need one?
A QR-IBAN is a special IBAN your bank issues alongside your regular IBAN — it sits in the IID range 30000–31999. You only need it if you want to use a QR Reference (QRR), i.e. if you want to automatically reconcile incoming payments to your invoices. For one-off payments, donations or message-only slips, your normal IBAN is fine — pick SCOR or no reference in the tool.
When do I just need a payment slip instead of a full invoice?
A full invoice with line items, VAT breakdown and an invoice number is required whenever the recipient needs a VAT-compliant document for their bookkeeping — typically B2B sales or any tax-relevant service. A standalone payment slip is enough for donations, membership fees, refunds, deposits, manual rent payments or informal amounts between individuals. Rule of thumb: if the recipient only needs to recognise the payment but not book it for tax, the QR payment slip alone is enough.
